Hello! Meet Charlotte Ballinger! Charlotte is the owner of Bloom Salon Collective in downtown Moses Lake. She’s known since she was 12 years old that she wanted to be a hair stylist! Bloom just celebrated their 1st anniversary, and though they opened amidst a pandemic, it has been an incredible year for them.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My husband and I have been married for 14 years. We live out in the country and we love to fish, hike, travel and boat together. We also have a rescue dog, who we love so much.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I love to connect with people and help them feel confident. I want my clients to feel beautiful and cared for while they are sitting in my chair.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Pho Saigon and Roost.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I’m originally from Yakima, and moved here 14 years ago when I married my husband.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Angie Clay. She’s just a sweet soul and so creative! I also would say the salon community as a whole.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Greece.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
TV show? Friends or The Bachelor. Movie? Jurassic Park or Harry Potter.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Be yourself; find confidence in your uniqueness. You are your own superpower.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I’d love to make it to all 50 states!
Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
I’m a true crime podcast junkie.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Red Door Cafe. I love their strong presence in our community, always giving back.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Dolly Parton. She’s a badass woman who chose to nurture others without being a mother and I admire her for that.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I love that everyone is so inter-connected; it’s a small town.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I see myself upgrading my salon space, building my business and deepening relationships. I also see myself spending more time traveling.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I love classic films from the 30’s!
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Cinque Terre, Italy.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
Favorite month? March. I love spring and it’s full of hope. Favorite holiday? New Years.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A really good beach with palm trees and gorgeous sunsets.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My husband.
Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
The ocean air and fresh coffee.
