Jaime Vela Jr.

Hello! Meet Jaime Vela Jr. Jaime is a loan officer at Evergreen Home Loans, a high school baseball coach and an hunting enthusiast!

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I’m the oldest of three siblings; my brother is a senior this year and my sister is in 7th grade. My parents both came from large families and we have a tight knit extended family. My dad works at Simplot and is the transportation manager, and my mom is a teacher at Park Orchard Elementary School.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
Being a loan officer is so rewarding! I love helping people who think they don’t qualify to buy a home overcome the obstacles and be able to purchase their first home. Walking with clients from the very beginning stages, to being there for the signing is so rewarding and fun! I love that I get to be a part of this process and help people find their dream homes.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
My number one is of course Chico’s! I also love J’s Teriyaki Grill.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I was born and raised here my whole life. After high school I went to Big Bend and played baseball there, and then continued on at Central Washington University to obtain my teaching degree. In June of 2020 I became certified as an official loan officer.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Clark Schweigert, my boss.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Mazatlan, Mexico.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Yellowstone.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
If it’s easy everyone would do it. Push through the hard; you’re closer to success than you think. Make the most of life and believe you can do it.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I’d love to go on an elk hunt in Montana.

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
Morgan Wallen – or anything country.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
The Squirrel Fight. It’s a brewery my uncle opened up here a few years ago.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
My uncle Julio. He’s an engineer for Geo Designs and I have so much to learn from him.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I love that there’s a little bit of everything here. It’s both country and city. It’s tight knit, yet people are inviting and there’s a place for everyone here.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I see myself right where I’m sitting; I love where I’m at and I love Evergreen Home Loans. I see myself as a top loan officer in Moses Lake in 5-10 years.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Many people don’t know that my family has a ranch in Northern Mexico that is so amazing to go hang out at.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Beverly Beach, OR. It holds a special place in my heart as it’s the place our family goes every year (for the past 26 years) to do a remembrance ride for my cousin who was taken from this world much too soon.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
Favorite month? September; football and hunting season! Favorite holiday? Christmas.

The hunting and fishing here!

Pine/oak and a good campfire.

Family. Outdoors. Friends.
